The School of Computer Science at McGill University invites applications for an appointment as full-time Faculty Lecturer. Priority areas include: (i) algorithms; (ii) theory of computation; (iii) computer systems; (iv) cybersecurity; (v) software engineering; (vi) cloud computing; and (vii) databases.
The selected candidate will teach both advanced computer science courses in their area of specialization as well as introductory course, supervise term research projects, and participate in the co-development and management of the School’s Masters Non-Thesis program. They will join a dynamic and collegial team of faculty members teaching highly talented students in a Top-35 CS department worldwide. Candidates must have at least a graduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline and demonstrated excellence in teaching computer science at the university level. Industry experience will be considered an asset. Candidates with a strong CS education background will also be considered favourably. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
The initial appointment is for 3 years, with the possibility of re-appointment. After 6 years of continuous employment, re-appointment is for an indefinite term. Promotion can lead to a Senior Faculty Lecturer position.
The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching. They are also expected to actively participate in the School’s activities around both graduate (Masters non-thesis) and undergraduate and program administration, including the co-development and delivery of new applied courses, as well as graduate program admission, student advising and mentoring, and oversight of graduate internships. They will engage and liaise with our student bodies and work to enhance of our program’s inclusiveness and student body diversity.
L'École d'informatique de l'Université McGill sollicite des candidatures pour un poste de chargé de cours à temps plein. Les domaines prioritaires sont : (i) algorithmes; (ii) fondements théoriques de l’informatique; (iii) science des données appliquée (analyse des big data, bases de données, exploration de données, etc.) ; (iv) systèmes informatiques ; (v) cybersécurité ; (vi) développement et déploiement de logiciels à grande échelle, et gestion de l'informatique en nuage.
Les candidats sélectionnés enseigneront à la fois des cours d'informatique avancés dans leur domaine de spécialisation et des cours d'introduction, superviseront des projets de recherche de semestre et participeront au co-développement et à la gestion du programme de maîtrise sans thèse. Ils rejoindront une équipe dynamique et collégiale de professeurs qui enseignent à des étudiants très talentueux dans un département d'informatique classé parmi les 35 meilleurs au monde.
Les candidats doivent être titulaires d'un diplôme d'études supérieures en informatique ou dans une discipline connexe et avoir fait preuve d'excellence dans l'enseignement de l'informatique au niveau universitaire. Une expérience dans l'industrie sera considérée comme un atout. Le salaire sera proportionnel aux qualifications.
L'engagement initial est de trois ans, avec possibilité de reconduction. Après 6 ans d'emploi continu, le mandat est renouvelé pour une durée indéterminée. Une promotion peut conduire à un poste de maître de conférences.
