Congratulations to Prof. David Rolnick ! He was recently named among Schmidt Sciences’ AI2050 Early Career Fellows.
The Schmidt Sciences AI2050 fellowship program honors leading researchers in AI whose work tackles some of humanity's most pressing challenges. This year, 25 scholars were chosen to receive funding totaling up to $12 million to promote AI research that benefits society.
As climate change results in extreme and unusual weather patterns around the globe, it is crucial for governments, companies, and individuals to access high-quality data for effective responses. However, traditional physics-based climate and weather forecasts often suffer from low spatial resolution and inaccuracies, with these challenges being more pronounced in the Global South where high-quality sensor data is less available. David’s AI2050 project aims to create advanced AI super-resolution tools that can generate accurate, high-resolution climate and weather data from low-resolution inputs, addressing global data demands and reducing geographical disparities.
Bravo David!
